Cases in Comparative Politics
A set of thirteen country studies that applies the conceptual framework developed in Essentials of Comparative Politics.
Cases in Comparative Politics, Third Edition, is a set of thirteen country studies that describe politics in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, China, India, Iran, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Nigeria. This casebook applies the conceptual framework developed in the text across countries with a consistent organization that facilitates comparison and aids understanding.
NEW Germany case
In response to adopter and reviewer feedback, the authors have added a case on Germany for the Third Edition.
Consistent organization facilitates comparison
Cases in Comparative Politics, Third Edition, encourages students to make comparisons between various countries by organizing each of the cases around the same framework. The introductory chapter offers a primer on concepts that are applied across all of the cases.
Helpful pedagogy
Each case includes pedagogical features to help students review important points and make comparisons across cases:
- Boxes at the start of each case list the general facts about the country (population, size, GDP, head of state, etc.)
- “In Comparison” graphs compare various aspects of the thirteen countries in the book (e.g., voter turnout, economic growth, etc.)
- Timeline of important political events
- Key terms and glossary
- Web links for further reading
- Anecdotal boxes on topics of special interest
